HOURS: 39 hours a week – with plenty of optional overtime at time and a half

Location within 5 minutes walk of the train station, so could commute from Bournemouth, Poole, Southampton, Portsmouth and Isle of White.


PURPOSE OF THE TURNER:

Ensuring the best manufacturing techniques are carried out within the Machine Shop by practical application of the most appropriate methods of programming, setting and operation of the machine tools and to stimulate an atmosphere of continuous improvement.

Duties and responsibilities of the Turner:

• Turning, setting, and operating as required, all machines

• Ensure that the methods, tooling and fixtures are used effectively to achieve a cost-effective quality product in accordance with the production requirements

• Monitoring the process during manufacture to ensure total process control is maintained

• To train on new technology as required by the department, for example XYZ lathes and CMM equipment

• Ensuring that the required Quality standards are achieved

• To manufacture medium to complex parts to required drawing customer specification

• Be able to inspect / measure own work – where applicable

• Ensuring that high standards of safety and housekeeping are maintained within the manufacturing area

• Ensuring that preventative maintenance schedules are strictly carried out

• Ensuring that information relating to the manufacturing process is accurately recorded, maintained and updated to reflect current practice

Person Specification of the Turner:

• Hard working and Reliable

• Able to work as part of a collaborative team

• Must be dexterous

Qualifications of the Turner:

• Previous experience in either an aerospace or industrial background

• Understanding of documentation
